CHICAGO (WLS) -- A violent crash ripped a vehicle in half on Chicago's Southwest Side, video shows.

The crash happened near Columbus and Central Park avenues in the Ashburn neighborhood.
Chicago police said only one car was involved in the crash.
The driver was heading eastbound on Columbus when he lost control and struck a tree, police said.
CPD said the driver and the male passenger were taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

Video shows the aftermath left on Columbus Avenue and Central Park Avenue early Sunday.
Parts of the vehicle were seen scattered on the street, including the seats.

The crash shut down Columbus Avenue between 31st and Central Park.
